Last But Not Least!

Today was the last day of our internships! We all were extremely sad as we said goodbye to our amazing hosts and coworkers. We are so grateful for the experiences we've had and all that we have learned in our three weeks. Many of our hosts gave us kind notes as we left and, for some, a small going away party! After work, we (sadly) started to pack up our suitcases. Many of the girls headed out on the town for fun dinners. The girls interning for MAC Presents headed to Madison Square Garden for Billy Joel! We are so thankful for the best three weeks in the best city. We had the best chaperones, the best leaders, the best internships and made the most amazing memories and friendships that will last forever. Until next time, NYC! -Browning & Rawlie

Terez and Dizzy's!

Today was a regular work day - our second to last day! It's crazy to think about how fast this trip has flown by. After work, we quickly rushed back to the hotel to meet everyone before setting out to the Terez office. It was so interesting getting to talk with and ask questions to someone on the marketing team, a MBA graduate who works there with his sister, Harpeth Hall graduate, and one of the head designers. I think all the girls really enjoyed getting a tour of the office and seeing the ins and outs of a fashion company with domestic production, plus it was just super cute! After the meeting, we went to dinner at Dizzy's, a jazz club at the Lincoln Center. The food was great and so was the performance! We enjoyed a fantastic set and it was so cool getting to watch the live show over dinner and while looking over a spectacular view. With our last day of work tomorrow, we're all sad to leave, but excited to see our family and friends who we've missed! - Celeste

Top of the Rock!

Today everyone went back to their internships after the long weekend. While we were not ecstatic to wake up early, we were all excited to return to our fantastic internships. After work, groups headed out to different parts of New York for shopping, sightseeing, and more until dinner. Most everyone just grabbed a quick dinner to be back in time for the Top of the Rock! At seven, we all headed to Rockefeller Center and had an entertaining 69-floor trip to the very tip top of the building. At the top, we had a fantastic view of New York and took lots of pictures. Later, we all met back at the hotel and snacked on some delicious cookies from Levain. While doing this, we talked about our highlights of the trip, which included many Broadway plays, amazing restaurants, cool museums, and incredible internships. This trip is coming to a close, and while we are all excited to see our friends and family back home, we are sad to leave this bustling city that we have grown to love, the Big Apple!

Too much food!

Today, we had a free museum day. Some of us went to the Museum of Natural History and got to see dinosaurs and a show at the planetarium. Others went to the Whitney to see Andy Warhol's artwork. For dinner, we went to a restaurant in Chinatown. They served us waaaaay to much food! After dinner, we walked to a place in Little Italy for the desserts and the cannolis were amazing!

MoMA and the Highline!

Image
We started off the day with a trip to the Museum of Modern Art! We got to see lots of famous works like Van Gogh's "Starry Night", Monet's Water Lilies, Salvador Dali's "The Persistence of Memory" and many, many more. After that, we had lunch at the Chelsea market, and had time for some shopping and poking around. All this was followed by a very chilly tour of the Highline with Richard! We learned all about the history and had some amazing views of the architecture in the area. Everyone split up for dinner and afternoon activities afterwards.  Fun day!

Dear Evan Hansen

Today we had a full work day, but were all off by around 4:30 and had until 6:20 to grab dinner before meeting at the hotel for the show. Some of us went to a burger place called Schnipper's which had amazing milkshakes. After dinner, we changed and met in the lobby. When we got to the theater, however, we realized that we were an hour early for a show that we had thought started at 7:00. While frustrating, it gave us some time to grab cheesecake at Junior's. After our second dessert, we met back at the Music Box theater for an amazing production of Dear Evan Hansen, during which most of us cried. We got back to the hotel at around 11:00 and were all tired but very moved by the show. Ready for a good night's sleep!

Bears on Ice

Today after work we all split up for a quick and early dinner before meeting back in the hotel lobby at 7:30. From there we walked to the NYC Public Library to look around and take pictures before it closed at 8. After walking around the library for a few minutes, we walked to Bryant Park where we got ready to ice skate! Once we had our skates on and were prepared to hit the ice, we headed to the outdoor rink and got started. Although our skating was short lived, it was so much fun and we only had a few falls! When everyone had had enough skating for one night, some girls headed back to the hotel while the others braved the cold with our chaperones to order waffles from a nearby waffle stand - they were delicious! Now we're getting ready for another day of work tomorrow!

Work work work work work -Rihanna

Today was a work day! All of the girlies went our separate ways to be strong, independent, working women and continue the projects we started last week. For example, at MAC Presents, we started reaching out to the vendors and workers that we’ll use for Khalid’s party as well as started making “One Sheets” which are basically hype pages so companies can have a snapshot of potential artists for partnerships. Then, we all had a free night for dinner where we utilized it to try new restaurants, meet up with friends, see local theatre, or for some of us finishing college applications :/ It’s nice to have our own time to explore the city individually and it will be hard when we have to leave and get back in the school routine. Signing off xx Maddie

Sightseeing the City

Image
Today we had a bus tour of New York with our guide, Richard. He led us all around the city with some of our favorite highlights being the house from Friends, beautiful churches, and Alexander Hamilton's house. After the guided bus tour, we went to Grand Central Terminal for a Shake Shack lunch and to explore. We loved walking around the terminal and seeing the beautiful constellation ceiling. After touring Grand Central, we had time to go shopping and sight see until our fabulous dinner at Taboon. After such a great meal, we are all ready for bed. Below are some pictures of our favorite places we viewed today...

The Met Cloisters and The Met

This morning we traveled north to the Met Cloister. Richard led us through and showed us what stain glass windows he worked on. After exploring the Cloister and many photos later, we went to lunch at the New Leaf down the hill from the museum. Next we went hopped on the bus and headed to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Mr. Womack gave us a personal tour of some of the highlights in the museum. He was almost got kicked out for not having a "lecture pass." Who knew?  Many of us went to the Plaza after exploring the Met.

Kinky Boots!

Today was our third full day in New York! We began our days at our internships and ended with some Juniors' Cheesecake. We were on our own for dinner: some girls went down to the Soho/Tribeca area for French food, while others stayed near-by and got burgers. Then we walked down to Broadway to see Kinky Boots, with Mrs Biegl leading the way in a pair of her own. The show was amazing and everybody loved it- especially the cutout poster where Mr Womack became Lola. Then we were treated to some cheesecake from Juniors on the way home.

Second Time's The Charm

Today was a day where we did not stop. We woke up, ran to work, and did not stop running until we finished at four. As we continued our nonstop journey, we inevitably ran into some problems. While trying to get dinner, a bunch of us went all the way to Chinatown to eat at this highly acclaimed restaurant. As we get there, we were quickly turned away since we had one too many people. Although we were upset, we went into another restaurant close by. This was probably the best restaurant where we have ever eaten. So, if we have learned anything today, we would have to say that, even if something does not initially work out, there are usually other (even better) options ahead. We have all learned the valuable lesson of perseverance today, and we are excited to use this knowledge for the continuation of Winterim. Thank you and keep on truckin' LC and Lydia

Today was our first day on the job! After a quick breakfast in the hotel, everyone headed off to their internships all over the city. After a day's work, we went out on the town, visited St. Patrick's Cathedral, and then had dessert in Mrs. Biegle's room. It was a great day and the start of an incredible Winterim journey.
